Tomorrow Is Mine

Joseph Prospere Revisited

Episode Summary

Up until he became a teenager Joseph Prospere spent much of his young life in African refugee camps, before his family were finally taken in by the Norwegian government. Before relocating to Norway, Joseph had never had any formal schooling and strangely much of his view of the outside world was formed by television – particularly MTV. How such a grounded, polite and well-read young man was shaped by MTV I’ll never know, but it’s just one of the many curiosities that are part of who Joseph is and the extraordinary journey he’s undergone since leaving Africa. If this story doesn’t make you appreciate the circumstances of your own situation, and how one moment of good fortune can monumentally change your life for the better, then it's unlikely anything will.

Episode Notes

Joseph's story was originally published on 3 June 2020 and has been one of the most downloaded episodes from the first season of the show.  Of all the guests featured in the first season, Joseph's story has drawn the most comments when people talk about the show, so it's definitely worth revisiting - particularly as it featured so early and many who are only now discovering the show may have missed it first time around.
