Viviane Menna is a passionate artist, activist, film maker and teacher who has dedicated much of her life in capturing the culture of the indigenous people of the Amazon basin. For these people this mighty river is the lifeblood of their existence, but with the pressures of the outside world their livelihood and their culture are in danger of soon disappearing. There are lessons for all of us to learn about why indigenous culture matters and what it tells us about who we are as a society as Vivi shares her determination to preserve it while sharing her amazing experiences of living in the Amazon. Viviane has now travelled to Australia because she’s fascinated by our indigenous culture and is keen to explore the outback while spending time with our First Nation People, but first she wants to improve her English, which is how she landed on the Gold Coast.
It’s not every day that you meet someone who’s spent 15 years living in the Amazon. When I became aware of Viviane Menna I knew she had a story that needed to be told. While the English language may not be Vivi's strong suit, her passion and boundless enthusiasm are undeniable, making this a compelling story.
